I used to make my mama's recipe too. Then my friend introduced me to this awesome recipe. So I'm sticking to it.
Simple Basic Bread ( I didn't name it)
Add in the following order:
6 C hot water
2/3 C each oil and honey
2 Tbsp salt
10 C whole wheat flour
2 Tbsp dough enhancer
3 Tbsp dry yeast and 1 Tbsp sugar
3/4 to 1 C white flour
balance of wheat flour (3-4 C)

Knead with mixer for 10 minutes: Heat oven to 150 degrees. Oil 4 bread pans. Put in oven to rise for 25-30 minutes. Increase temperature to 350 degrees and continue baking for 33-35 minutes. Remove from pans and put on wire rack until cool.
*If you don't have dough enhancer, crush a 250 or 500 mg of vitamin C and use as a substitute.

What I love about this recipe is that you throw it all in and throw it in the oven. No more of this rising on the counter, then putting it into the pans and rising some more... This is soooo easy. We love it.
Let me know what you think!
Also, have you ever used Spelt? I LOVE it. You can buy spelt grain, just like wheat. Then grind it and use it for bread, waffles, cookies, muffins... It's super duper healthy but it is light and fluffy. It's amazing.
Happy Baking!Amyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05386578865501688849noreply@blogger.com
